Murder victim's family turns to Facebook to locate suspected killer

Family members of Angelica Olivarez posted a picture of the young mother's son holding this poster asking for Facebook "likes" to spread the word about Olivarez's case and help locate her suspected killer.

The family of a young mother who was murdered last month is turning to Facebook now in the continued search for her suspected killer.

Family members set up â??Justice for Angelica Olivarezâ?? to find Michael Lawrence, the father of Olivarez's young son, and the man charged with murder in her April 15 death.

On the Facebook page, the couple's son is seen holding a sign asking for 20,000 â??likesâ?? to help police find Lawrence.

Olivarez's mother, Theresa Medel, told NBC25 news the family has received some criticism for the picture, but said that Facebook is just another tool in the search for Lawrence. Medel said sheâ??s also been writing to law enforcement agencies across the country about her daughter's case.

â??This is my daughter, and I am trying to get her killer,â?? Medel said. â??And as much help as I can get, I will take, but I will not put my grandson or anybody else in jeopardy.â??

Michael Lawrence is also wanted for the murder of six-year-old Layâ??la Jones last August.

Anybody with information on Lawrence's whereabouts can call the Saginaw Police Department at 989-326-7595 or Crime Stoppers at 800-422-JAIL.
