Neighbors hope Dort Highway extension brings new business to Grand Blanc Township

â??I think any improvement on what we got with helping the traffic situation is great,â?? says MacCleod.

Sheâ??s hoping the extension of Dort Highway past Grand Blanc Road to Baldwin Road will alleviate some traffic.

The extension project is getting full support from the Michigan Department of Transportation to the tune of $5.6 million.

â??I think it would be great,â?? adds MacCleod.

Itâ??s also great for township officials who says this project is decades in the making.

â??Itâ??s kind of a realization of a dream. We've had this vision for I don't know how long,â?? says Miki Hoffman, township supervisor.

Genesys Medical Center is joining in on the vision. Hospital executives saying they'll expand the hospital, creating thousands of new jobs, once Dort Highway is extended.

â??Itâ??s a great public-private partnership,â?? says Hoffman by phone Friday afternoon.

Long-time residents are hoping the new road will also create new partnerships.

â??We do need some more business here in Grand Blanc especially like restaurants,â?? says Reginald Clarke, a Grand Blanc resident.
