A new device at a Mid-Michigan theater is helping people who are hard of hearing.
The Quality 10GDX complex of theaters in Kochville Township has portable closed captioning devices customers can use at their seat.
The small device fits in the cup holder and a flexible connection allows viewers to adjust it to the right spot.
The Mid-Michigan chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America discussed the benefits of the technology at its meeting Monday night at Saginaw Valley State University.
â??It just opens up everything to us. It's very very isolating and difficult when you can't hear or understand what's going on around you,â?? said Janet Haines, local chapter leader.
The group hopes more theaters will install closed captioning technology.
