Nexteer Automotive donates solar tracking system to Saginaw schools

SunSteer System

Nexteer Automotive is helping bring solar power to the Saginaw Intermediate School District.

The automotive company is donating one SunSteer solar tracking system for an education solar power installation at the Hartley Outdoor Education Center.

According to Nexteer, the tracking system, under normal operating conditions, will accurately track the sun's position, while consuming less than $2.00 of energy per year. It will also increase power production by up to 40 percent over fixed solar installations.

The groundbreaking for the system is targeted for June 1, 2013.

Hemlock Semiconductor and Saginaw Valley State University are also helping with the donation.

SunSteer is manufactured at Nexteer's world headquarters in Saginaw.
