No ID yet for male pedestrian killed by train in Perry

Authorities have released the name of the man struck by a train in Perry.

The Perry police told The Argus Press of Owosso that the man was 23-year-old Joseph Holloway of Durand.

Authorities say a train struck and killed a male pedestrian in the Shiawassee County community of Perry.

The City of Perry Police Department said that early in the morning on March 1st, they had a report that there was an accident involving a train and a pedestrian.

The man, according to witnesses, was running north on the sidewalk parallel to Main Street when he was struck by the train. The 23-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

M-52 was shut down through Perry for nearly four hours while the Perry police, Morrice police, Shiawassee County Sheriff's Office, and CN Railroad investigated the accident.

The Canadian National Railway Company operates a freight line that runs through Perry.

CN spokeswoman Lindsay Fedchyshyn in Concord, Ontario said Sunday that the crossing's gate, warning bells and flashing lights were working at the time.

Perry is about 20 miles east-northeast of Lansing.
