Nuts recalled after 7 people develop E. coli infection

DeFranco and Sons Recalls Hazelnuts and Mixed Nuts

The Food and Drug Administration says at least one person in Michigan became sick with E. coli poisoning after eating possibly contaminated nuts.

DeFranco & Sons of Los Angeles is now voluntarily recalling some in-shell hazelnuts and mixed nuts out of fear they could contain E. coli bacteria.

The company says it has tested numerous batches of nuts, and not found any E.coli in its products, but wants to take precautions.

The company sells nuts under the brand names Sunripe and George Packing. You can find the FDA TMs complete list of recalled products by clicking here.

A total of seven people in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota have reported illnesses.
