Opening day brings big business to Midland

Baseball season is back in full swing in Midland. The Great Lakes Loons are back in town for their seventh summer at Dow Diamond hosting Fort Wayne Thursday night.

Meanwhile, area businesses are thrilled that "Loon Fever" is bringing crowds to downtown Midland.

"We're probably going to sell a lot of hot dogs we have sandwiches that are amazing coke fountain salads everything like that," says Cheryl Wood, worker at Amazing Deli.

Opening day creating excitement about more dollars being spent along Main Street.

"They bring down business that is amazing they help with the local businesses downtown," says Wood.

Chelsea Serra moved her business to Main Street a month ago. She says her children's shop is already reaping the benefits of a downtown locatio

"Even today alone I've noticed the foot traffic has been busier than in the past weeks," says Serra, Pish Posh Baby Boutique.

"Before the games everybody likes to come downtown shop locally get something in their bellies before they go to the stadium it's nice especially when they win because they come back and they're all excited," says Wood.
