Over 250,000 signatures presented to Michigan Secretary of State by anti-wolf hunting group

A group in Michigan is trying to stop the hunting of wolves for sport.

The group Keep Wolves Protected says they have gathered over 250,000 signatures on their petition to prevent the hunting of wolves in Michigan.

The organization submitted 253,705 signatures to the Michigan Secretary of State's office.

161,305 signatures are required in order to have this issue placed on the ballot in November of 2014.

The signatures still have to be approved by the Michigan Secretary of State.

Wolf hunting for sport was passed in Michigan in November of 2012.

Prior to this it was only legal to kill wolves in order to protect livestock or dogs.
