Northern Michigan authorities say they're going to file multiple criminal charges against organizers of a rave that drew 2,000 mostly young people and led to a sexual assault and many drug and alcohol overdoses.
The Mecosta County sheriff's department says it got a call about 11 p.m. Saturday about traffic problems and improperly parked cars near a residence in Hinton Township, about 45 miles north-northeast of Grand Rapids.
Detective Sgt. Casey Nemeth said in a statement Sunday that "the crowd of over 2,000 consisted mostly of persons under the legal drinking age of 21."
Nemeth says emergency crews took intoxicated or injured people to Kelsey Hospital in Lakeview, Mount Pleasant Hospital and Spectrum Health in Big Rapids.
He says a 19-year-old Mount Pleasant woman was sexually assaulted in a vehicle.
