Pet needs rise, organization looks to public for support

Officials say there is a growing need for animal adoptions.

A Fall festival and adoption event is showing the public that pets are worth saving.

P.A.W.S. is an all volunteer animal rescue organization promoting humane compassion and responsible treatment of all animals.

Their outdoor festival in Swartz Creek is shining a light on some of their pets up for adoption with a puppy play pen, live music and a kissing booth featuring a paws K-9.

A recent increase in animals in need is putting extra tension on the group, but they hope the Fall festival will spark an interest in man's best friend.

"Stressful because there are so many and because of the finances but there is nothing like it. When police bring a dog to us like we have here today and you see it today how good it looks that's a wonderful feeling," said Edith Campbell, P.A.W.S.

P.A.W.S. adopts to homes that are the best fit for the animal's needs not first come first serve.
