Pilot name released in Chesaning plane crash

A small plane crashed in Chesaning. There was one fatality, identified as Daniel Mallott.

The Saginaw County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim of the plane that crashed in Chesaning on July 6.

The victim is Daniel Malott, age 57, of Saginaw County.

Deputies arrived Saturday evening at about 6:45 to the crash site, located near the Chesaning Middle School.

The plane was fully engulfed in fire and was put out by Chesaning fire officials.

The aircraft is a JDT1600 R Sport.

It is not known at this time why the plane crashed or how Malott died. The Saginaw County Sheriff's Office is conducting the investigation.
