Sheriff: Amish teen drowns in pond
ISABELLA COUNTY, Mich. --Isabella County Sheriff's deputies say an Amish teen is dead after drowning in a pond.
It happened Friday night around 7:30 p.m. in the 7000 block of West Blanchard Road in Isabella County’s Coldwater Township.
Deputies were called to the area following a report of a 17-year-old who began to struggle in the water.
Family members tried to pull him to the surface, but were unable to help him.
Deputies say family members were able to flag down a motorist to use a phone to call 911.
When emergency crews arrived, they got information from witnesses for the approximate area in the pond that they last seen the teen.
Deputies were able to find the teen, but they were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
