Michigan authorities have released the identity of a dead suspect in the slaying of a 45-year-old woman who disappeared during a blind date with a man she met online.
The Midland County sheriff's department says 30-year-old Steven Michael Fabi was found dead Tuesday in a bedroom of a home in Edenville Township, along Fox Road. Authorities say he apparently fatally shot himself as deputies were walking up to his house to investigate 45-year-old Leigh Swanson's disappearance.
Swanson lived in Saginaw County's Saginaw Township. She disappeared after leaving for a date on Nov. 16 and she was found fatally shot. Her body was found in a wooded area across from Fabi's home.
Officials say Fabi and Swanson met online at www.MeetMe.com. Currently, the company officials are working with the Midland County Sheriff to investigate. MeetMe spokesperson released this statement:
"We are working closely with the Midland County Sheriff's department to assist in their investigation of this tragic incident."
The incident remains under investigation.
