Police: Lawrence used multiple aliases to escape custody

Michael Lawrence was in the custody of the Lansing Police under a false name back in February.

Saginaw police are still looking for Michael Lawrence in connection with two murders in the last seven months.

According to Lansing police, Lawrence was in their custody on Feb. 24, 2013.

Police say on Lawrence gave police an assumed identity, which police determined was fake. They then arrested Lawrence for providing false information.

The Lansing Police Department is not releasing the original name Lawrence gave the night of the arrest.

Police say Lawrence then gave officers a second fake name, Dominique Saxton. After looking at a picture of Saxton, the Lansing Police Department believed that Saxton and Lawrence were the same person.

Falsifying information is only a 90-day offense and as a matter of procedure fingerprints were not run.

Lawrence, acting as Saxton, paid his bond and was released.

It wasn't until April that Lansing police looked into the possibility that Saxton was an alias for Lawrence.

The Lansing Police Department has confirmed Lawrence was in their custody under the alias Dominique Saxton, in February.

According to court documents, on April 29, 2013 Lawrence was charged with providing false information to police on February 24, 2013; the same date that Saxton was charged with the same offense.

Saginaw police say Lawrence is armed and dangerous. If you have any information regarding his whereabouts, you are asked to call the Saginaw Police Department at (989) 759-1598 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-422- JAIL.
