Police: Tow truck employee struck, killed while attending to disabled vehicle
BRIDGEPORT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WEYI/WSMH) - Police say an employee of Mike’s Wrecker was attending to a disabled vehicle on Dixie Highway in Bridgeport Township.
Police say the employee was outside of the tow truck and was struck by a Jeep Cherokee driven by a female.
The tow truck driver was dead at the scene, according to Chief David Duffett.
The driver of the Jeep Cherokee is in custody. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash. Police say the crash is under investigation with the assistance of the Saginaw Area Crash Investigation Team. Once the investigation is completed it will be forwarded to the Saginaw Prosecutor’s Office for possible charges according to Chief Duffett.
The Bridgeport Township Police Department was assisted by the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office and the Bridgeport Township Fire Department.
