Michigan authorities say that Flint is discharging raw sewage into the Flint River because a municipal pump station lost electrical service.
State Department of Environmental Quality engineer Charles Bennett says that Flint reports the spill starting about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

) reports that CMS Energy Corp. says the pump station appears to be in an area where about 570 customers lost power because if an equipment failure and pole fire.
Bennett says this discharge involves raw sewage. That's different from what happens during heavy rains, when wastewater treatment system dilute sewage before releasing it.
City spokesman Jason Lorenz says he has no additional information about the spill.
