The Cascades Humane Society in Jackson is hoping for community support to help it care for an influx of puppies.
The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports there are 21 puppies at the facility. The puppy population jumped in part when an abandoned pregnant husky mix gave birth to seven puppies days after her arrival at the animal shelter.
A "Puppy Shower" is planned for noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at a Pet Supplies Plus store in Jackson that's owned by Daria Grinenko, a Cascades Humane Society board member. The puppies are required to be held at Cascades until they are at least 8 weeks old
Attendees can purchase pet supplies for the shelter, select a gift from the registry at Pet Supplies Plus or make a donation.
