Recall Against Flint mayor allowed to move forward

FLINT, Mich. – The Genesee County Clerk’s Office has determined the signatures on the recall petition against Flint Mayor Karen Weaver to be valid.

It has been determined by the Genesee County Clerk after a registration check completed by the Flint City Clerk that enough valid signatures were collected.

Recall petition sponsor Arthur Woodson need to collected 5,750 valid signatures to move the initiative forward. He was determined to have collected 5,951.

According to the county clerk, Weaver has 30 days from the original filing date to challenge either the signatures on the petition or the registration of an elector whose name appears on the petition.

That date would fall on July 30.

Since the 30th is a Sunday, the mayor has until July 31 to file her challenge.
