Rising stars to perform at Mott CC

Attention high school music students: Mott Community College has a special event on Friday for you. Actually the music community is invited to Mott on Friday for the Mott Music Tech Fest. It's from 9-4:30 at the Mott Memorial Building.

Among the performers: Cats and the Fiddler, a Livingston County-based country group that's been performing together for years. The band performed live on NBC 25 Today.

Band Members:Carmen Gibes, lead and harmony vocals, banjo and guitar. Shaun Richardson, keyboard, mandolin, fiddle, guitar and harmony vocals. James Richardson, bass, keyboard, lead and harmony vocals.

Shaun and James are twins and Carmen is their 1st cousin. They are all from Milford and are all 18 years old. They have been playing music together for 12 years (since the age of 6). For the first 10 years they played traditional bluegrass and "newgrass". For the last 2 years they have been playing pop country. James and Carmen are going to college in the fall so the band is no longer booking gigs at this time. Shaun hopes to check out the Nashville scene and break into the industry but they are all keeping opportunties for playing together in the future on their radar. Debra Gibes, (an instructor at MCC) is the mom, the aunt, the promotional director, the webdesigner, the roader, the booking agent., etc., etc, etc.
