U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers is expected to soon say whether he plans to run for the U.S. Senate in Michigan next year.
Rogers' office says that the Howell Republican will make an announcement on Friday.
Democratic U.S. Sen. Carl Levin announced in March that he would not run for a seventh six-year term in 2014. U.S. Rep. Gary Peters is running for the Democratic nomination. Former Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land is running on the Republican side.
The 50-year-old Rogers told the News last month he was seriously considering a Senate bid, saying he would go through his "due diligence."
He is chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.
