Safety training conference for educators held in Mount Pleasant

training conference for school administrators and emergency responders across the state today features speakers who responded to last year's Connecticut school shooting.

Former Newton Superintendent of Schools Janet Robinson and Newton police Lt. Richard Robinson are among those appearing at the Schools, Educators, Police, Liaison conference in Mount Pleasant.

Tonight on NBC25 News at 6, Brittany Shannon takes us behind the conference training sessions and discussion groups for police, school administrators and emergency responders.

The event is usually open to law enforcement and school officials, but this year firefighters and EMS workers are also invited.

Adam Lanza shot and killed 20 children and six educators Dec. 14 at Sandy Hook Elementary School before killing himself.

He also killed his mother at their Newton home before going to the school.
