Saginaw 4th grader dies after suspected case of meningitis
A fourth-grade student at Saginaw's Arthur Eddy Academy has died after a suspected case of meningitis.
Friday the Saginaw County Health Department notified the Arthur Eddy Academy principal of a suspected case of meningitis involving a student. The district notified parents that night through a letter. The next day, Saturday, that student passed away.
Officials with the Saginaw Public School District say Arthur Eddy Academy will be closed Monday and they will be working closely with The Saginaw County Health Department to ensure every precaution is taken to protect students at the school. The district is also preparing to have grief counselors available Tuesday when students return to class.
