Saginaw area church buys and renovates old elementary school

Church buys old elementary school in Saginaw to convert it into a community and worship center.

A local church is giving new life to an old elementary school.

Members of Cross Point Chapel in Saginaw have been renovating Feurbringer Elementary.

The church bought the elementary from Saginaw Schools to turn it into a community center.

Volunteers worked on cleaning the school inside and out on Saturday to restore the building to its original glory.

"This is a place for the neighborhood to come out and in this back we have so much space out there to come out for the block parties, movie on the wall, just basically a place for the community to come and congregate," said Pastor Rob Troutman with Crosspoint Chapel.

The Reach Community Church hopes to open in the old school building this fall.
