Saginaw cats rescued amid cat-flu outbreak

59 cats and 3 dogs were rescued from the Saginaw Animal Care Center on December 30.
It could have been the end for nearly 60 cats at the Saginaw County Animal Care Center. But they were saved last month in the largest number of animals ever transferred out of the center in a day. According to the Facebook page of Saginaw Adoptable Pets, 59 cats and 3 dogs were rescued from the Saginaw Animal Care Center on December 30. Most were sick with flu like symptoms. They were rescued by several agencies including Frankenmuth-based Pet Angel Cat Adoption and Rescue, Friends of Heavenly Paws of Michigan and Lucky Day Animal Rescue. According to MLive, the county-run shelter is taking no more cats at this time. Meanwhile it's looking for a director. Its previous director, Kevin Wilken remains on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
