Saginaw city council candidates address voters in forum

      It's crunch time before Election Day and city council candidates in Saginaw are making sure voters know who they are and what they stand for.

      The Saginaw Valley Young Professionals network hosted them at the Dow Event Center Wednesday night.

      Nineteen people, including two incumbents, are vying for four open seats on the nine-member council.

      Candidates addressed issues such as public safety and increasing revenue.

      One of the candidates, Ricardo Longoria, said, â??We all know what needs to be done. It's just a matter of how we are going to do it and how long it's going to take us to get there, but it will be a slow process, yes."

      Election Day is November 5. All of the council hopefuls run as nonpartisan candidates. Winners will be sworn in November 11.
