Saginaw city council postpones decision on city manager appointment
Fri, 20 Sep 2013 04:03:24 GMT —
The Saginaw City Council postponed a decision on filling the city manager position after a motion to appoint a retired city employee failed Thursday night.
Council members are in the process of replacing Darnell Earley after he was appointed by the state last week as the new emergency manager in the city of Flint.
A motion to appoint Odail Thorns, who worked as the city's development director, failed 5-3 because the city charter requires a two-thirds majority to hire the city's chief administrative officer.
Council decided to postpone a decision until its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, Oct. 7.
