Saginaw County Commissioners are being asked to consider a countywide mass transit system.
Right now the Saginaw Transit Authority Regional Services (STARS) primarily serves the city of Saginaw and parts of Saginaw Township.
The County Services Committee decided yesterday to ask the board to consider adding Saginaw County to the transit authority.
Sylvester Payne, General Manager of STARS, told NBC25 that "It will give those that are out there now, whether they are inside the city or in rural areas, those who do not have the vehicles, the opportunity to get to those employment places."
If approved, STARS would serve other, more rural areas of the county as well.
