Fire departments from Saginaw County came together Wednesday evening to remember the first responders who died on 9/11.
The Saginaw County Fire Association ceremony at the Birch Run Fire Department began with the sounding of the fire box alarm for the World Trade Center.
Birch Run Assistant Fire Chief John DiBerardino read a timeline of the 9/11 attacks.
â??It's the same as the last generation with Pearl Harbor,â?? said Lt. Tom Mitchell with the Birch Run Fire Department. â??Everyone knows that and this was worse, so you got to remember it and that's why we're doing this right now."
Birch Run Police Officer Jason Wise, who helped first responders in New York after the attacks, shared his reflections about that day.
The ceremony wrapped up with a closing prayer and the national anthem.
This was the 10th year the Saginaw County Fire Association held the memorial service.
