Saginaw County health director fired
SAGINAW COUNTY, Mich. - A tense meeting was held to determine whether or not a high ranking Saginaw health officer would keep his job.
In a special meeting, the board of commissioners voted unanimously to terminate John McKeller as the county health director citing poor performance.
Numerous testimonies were giving that were pro and against McKeller 's firing.
McKeller was suspended in march of this year after alleged lack of work improvements.
“I feel confident in the vote of non-competence in his ability to perform is not a personal attack on him I believe him to be a very nice man but I don't think it's fair to the employees and the staff at the health department to continue in the direction that we are going,” said county treasurer Tim Novak.
McKeller was hired in 2010.
His attorney says they may pursue legal actions.
