Saginaw police are now calling the suspicious deaths of a mother and daughter on the city's east side, a homicide. Neighbors on Hess Avenue are wondering why this happened and how it happened.
"Itâ??s just so hard to believe,â?? says Sharde Fikes.
Fikes is trying to figure out why someone would kill her neighbors.
â??She was always kind. There was never an issue over there, never an issue,â?? says Fikes.
Police are also putting the puzzle together.
On Tuesday, Saginaw police found King and her daughter dead inside their Hess Avenue home. Leigh Andrea, known as Annie, just celebrated her 42nd birthday this past Monday.
â??It's just like, what is going on. You never expect that the last time you see somebody would be the last time you see somebody,â?? says Fikes.
Sharlea King, 11, was a student at Francis Reh Academy. School leader, Kate Scheid Webber says grief counselors are helping Sharlea's classmates get through this tough time.
It's a tragic loss for our Saginaw community and our Francis Reh family,â?? says Schied Webber.
When it happens to a child and you have a child, like, it's something different. It's something so innocent about that,â?? says Fikes.
"They were good people. A mother who really cared about her child and wanted her to be successful,â?? says Schied Webber.
NBC25 spoke with Sharleaâ??s father on Wednesday he, of course, is very upset. Neighbors say Leigh Andreaâ??s 20-year old son called police to the home.
