Saginaw retirement home welcomes displaced flood victims

In the midst of the mess and damage that the recent flooding has caused in Saginaw, mother nature's spring showers are bringing out the best in some folks at the New Hope Assisted Living Center.

When the waters started to rise and pushed residents out of the St. Francis Home in Saginaw Township, nearby New Hope Assisted Living Center stepped up.

Community members and businesses pitching in to help move the displaced residents into a temporary home at the assisted living center.

"What we're talking about is our community's parents and grandparents so it's an honor to serve them and serve their needs and for our residents it's been a blessing to make new friends along the way," says New Hope managing director, Rumi Shahzad.

A total of 70 residents from St. Francis were displaced due to the flooding.
