Saginaw Township Police: Two suspects in sexual assault, robbery apprehended

The Saginaw Township Police Department apprehended two men that they say were involved in a sexual assault and robbery.

It happened on Tuesday at about 1:40 am, say police.

Dispatchers received a call from a home in the 1200 block of Vincent in Saginaw Township. They listened to an open phone line and determined that the call was likely a burglary in progress.

When the first Saginaw Township Officer arrived on the scene, he saw a male suspect leave the home. The officer then chased the suspect, but lost him in a wooded area.

A second officer then arrived on the scene and saw a second, male suspect flee the home, followed by one of the victims who told the officer that the suspect had robbed the home.

The Saginaw Police Department K-9 Unit, the Michigan State Police, the Saginaw County Sheriff's Office all assisted in the hunt for the two suspects.

Officials say that they quickly apprehended the two men.

Police say that the two suspects, a 26-year-old male and a 29-year-old male, broke into the home. They were both armed with handguns, according to police.

The suspects, officials say, then assaulted 30-year-old male by striking him. They also sexually assaulted a 23-year-old female victim. The suspects then robbed the home.

Both suspects are in the Saginaw County Jail awaiting arraignment. The Saginaw County Prosecutor's Office issued 35 felony counts against the suspects.

It is expected that both suspects will be arraigned tomorrow morning in 70th District Court.
