      Severe risk now includes Mid-Michigan

Areas in yellow are in the Slight risk.

The SPC has just placed the NBC25 viewing area in yellow in the Slight risk for severe weather for later this evening and tonight.

Threats would be from large hail and strong winds.

REASON FOR THE CHANGE: The timing of the cold fronts arrival and the amount of moisture available in the air.

The cold front sped up, a lot, meaning while I mentioned yesterday storms would occur overnight tonight they were not expected to be severe.

Because the front increased its speed dramatically it can use much more daytime heating plus the added moisture in the air to pop more storms.

When can we expect to see the storms arriving? Mainly late evening 7-8pm time-frame for the majority of the area.

A little sooner for our northern counties.

Stay with NBC25 as we continue to watch this developing system to the west.
