Shiawassee County remains under State of Emergency

Mid-Michigan was hit with heavy snow that has lead to a large number of closures.

Shiawassee County is continuing their State of Emergency into today, telling residents to remain indoors and off of the roads.

County officials say that they are keeping the main roads clear and trying to keep at least one lane open on side-roads. The problem is that with the strong winds, snow is blowing back onto the roads, making it difficult for crews to keep the roads clear.

Additionally, the lanes that are currently open are for emergency vehicle use only. County officials want residents to stay off of the roads because they are still considered unsafe and because it will allow the plows to do their work.

All schools and county offices will remain closed today as well.
