Officials with the Saginaw County Sheriff Department report one fatality following a light support aircraft crash in Chesaning.
Officials say the plane left the Howard Nixon Memorial Airport in Chesaning around 6 and crashed approximately 45 minutes later in a field next to Chesaning Middle School.
Crews have removed the plane from the scene.
County detectives and the airport manager are heading to the scene to investigate.
Michigan State Police and the Saginaw County Sheriff's Department are on scene.
They tell us the Federal Aviation Administration will not be responding because the aircraft was not registered.
Officials do not know what caused the crash at this time.
