Flint's emergency manager says continued progress at Smith Village is a sign the city is on its way to financial stability and solvency.
Mike Brown said four homes in Smith Village have been sold and four more are in the process of being sold.
In addition to continued development there, the city is expecting to get $25 million to demolish blighted homes.
??That would be historically the biggest influx of resources to demolish structures that need to be taken out in our community, ever, so it's a major challenge in the sense that we have to do it right,?? Brown said.
The money should be coming sometime in August or September and Brown said the city would have between 12 and 15 months to complete the demolition work.
Brown said in addition to demolishing homes the city is looking to hire eight neighborhood safety officers.
