Snowpalooza is done for Mid-Michigan; snow totals are impressive

Update: Well Snowpalooza 2011 is in the books, and most of our area received between 8 and 12 inches of snow! The heaviest area of snow stretched from Huron County to Arenac County. Bad Axe picked up 13.5 inches, which looks like the largest amount of snow in Mid-Michigan. It doesn't really matter exactly how much snow an area had, it was all about the winds and drifts in Snowpalooza. Wind gusts of 45 to 50 miles per hour created drifts of 3 to 5 feet. Mid-Michigan isn't alone in the digging out of snow. From Chicago to Tulsa, OK near record snowfall occurred. Chicago at 20.3 inches had its third largest snowstorm.

Update: The readers have spoken. The winner of the name that snowstorm contest is: Snowpalooza! Thanks for all the great suggestions. Maybe we'll be able to use them this winter for the next big storm.
