State police investigating two child abduction attempts in Bay County

The Michigan State Police are actively investigating two attempts to abduct young children.

Police say the two attempts both happened on Euclid near East Hotchkiss Road.

The first attempt reportedly happened on August 15 at about 5 pm. A young girl was walking when she was approached by a vehicle. The vehicle stopped and a man exited and grabbed her by the boot.

The child screamed and slapped the hand of the suspect. The suspect returned to his vehicle and fled.

The second attempt happened the very next day also around 5 pm. A young boy was riding his bike in the same area when a vehicle approached him and stopped. The suspect left the vehicle and began walking closer to the child while talking about taking the boy to another location.

When the suspect got close enough the boy punched him, and then the boy rode away on his bike.

Police describe the suspect as a while male, in his late 20s or early 30s, thin build with short brown hair.

The vehicle is described as a black sedan, possibly a Dodge, with a rear spoiler.
