Students meet with professional teams for potential jobs

Area teams are giving people the opportunity to break into the sports industry but not necessarily on the field.

The Dow Event Center in Saginaw hosted the second annual Saginaw Spirit sports and entertainment career fair Saturday.

The Detroit Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings and other teams attended hoping to give students and others the opportunity to enter front office positions.

"It's a very tough industry to get into, that's why we wanted to put this on. Because my previous experience, going through the hiring and interview process, I wanted to provide a more intimate setting for these teams to come in, and for these students to get in front of these teams," said Shane Stout, Saginaw Spirit.

The Spirit, Great Lakes Loons, Grand Rapids Griffins, Saginaw Sting and other teams also attended hoping to fill open spots with their organizations.
