Flint leaders led a discussion on how to empower families and neighborhoods in the city.
The North Flint Reinvestment Corporation hosted its third annual Economic Empowerment Summit at Foss Avenue Baptist Church.
Congressman Dan Kildee (D-Flint Township) was the keynote speaker. Local officials such as Mayor Dayne Walling and county treasurer Deb Cherry led workshops about blight elimination and community development.
Other workshops discussed the importance of early childhood education and closing the academic achievement gap.
