Authorities say a minister at a Pontiac church found what appeared to be a Molotov cocktail outside the church before services.
The Oakland County sheriff's department says there didn't appear to have been an attempt to ignite the incendiary device Sunday. Investigators say the minister tossed it in the trash and waited almost two hours - until after church services ended - to call the sheriff's department.
The minister told investigators that a former church member who had made threats to burn down the church may be to blame. Investigators say a similar device was found burning at a nearby home on Saturday.
No injuries were reported.
The sheriff's department says the suspect is a 39-year-old Pontiac man. The investigation is ongoing.
