As many local public safety departments struggle with funding to maintain staffing levels, local events are pulling together to help combat money troubles.
Community members hit the greens Saturday in Grand Blanc for a golf scramble to raise money for the police and fire officers associations.
Even our own Bill Harris lended a hand in the activities, cooking up a hearty meal for golfers looking to keep communities safe.
"It makes me feel proud to be a member of the community supporting everything. It all boils down to the youth, if we can support the youth with the programs and keep them safe, thats what this is about," said Ken Thomas.
The funds raised from the "Cuffs and Clubs" event are also going toward a parks and rec project in Grand Blanc and the Soldiers Support Program.
