Dozens of people gathered outside Tanisha Colton's home on Gillespie Street, lifting up prayers and song.
The mother of three was found dead Monday in a ditch in Monroe Countyâ??s Ash Township. Coltonâ??s family had been searching for her after she was last seen March 13.
Michigan State Police have a person of interest in custody in her death.
On Friday, those who loved Colton lit candles and remembered her for being a loving person, hoping to find some closure after what they say has been a nightmare.
â??Just remembering her as a great person that she was,â?? Coltonâ??s sister Tierra Pope described. â??A great mother, a great sister, friend, cousin, just a great person overall.â??
Margaret Channel, Popeâ??s legal guardian, said she was like a mother to Colton and said she was â??hoping that God can take care of [Colton] and rest easy."
A donation account for funeral expenses has been set up through Citizens Bank.
