The Genesee County assistant prosecutor says 17 year old Steven Willingham of Flint is facing murder and felony firearm charges in connection with the murder of 26 year old Christopher Cole. Willingham faced Judge Herman Marable, Jr. Willingham's attorney says his client would stand mute, so the judge issued a "not guilty" plea for him. Cole's body was found under a Flint trailer home at the Elms Mobile Home Park last week.
In court, the teenager was described as having no guardian. He was living with a person he calls his sister, but is simply a family friend. He's not working. He did attend Daveport University in Flint Township. Willingham's attorney told the judge he was getting prepared to attend the Flint Job Corp to seek training for employment.
He's being held without bond. He will be back in court in a week before Judge Cathy Dowd, in 68th District Court.
