Teen found guilty in deadly stabbing case

he Genesee County prosecutor announces a jury has found a teenager guilty of manslaughter in the beating and stabbing death of his mother's live-in boyfriend.

The prosecutor says Devonte Pittmon, 18, got into an argument with 28-year-old Nemya Roberts, his mother's boyfriend, at their residence on Fleming Road near Pasadena in the city of Flint in the early morning hours of Aug. 7, 2012.

Evidence showed Pittmon has large quantities of alcohol and drugs in his system earlier in the evening but was sober at the time of the stabbing.

The prosecutor says Pittmon also bashed the victim's head on the floor until Pittmon's mother intervened. Pittmon grabbed a knife and told the victim he'd be stabbed if he left the house.

Roberts tried to leave and the prosecutor says Pittmon stabbed him to death.

Pittmon faces up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced July 17.
