Today is a Day of Action with the United Way

Today, June 21, the United Way has their annual Day of Action where they ask for volunteers to help in the community.

For 21 hours the United Way will be broadcasting live on the web, talking about the help that people in the community can give.

They are looking for people to help tutor, mentor or read to those that need the help.

Then, those that volunteer can share their experiences with the United Way on this Day of Action.

In Genesee County the United Way and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan will be distributing food at three different locations.

This morning from 9 until 11 they will be at the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church located at 7234 Fenton Road in Grand Blanc.

Then they will move on to Flint at the Higher Quality of Life Ministries located at 5601 North Saginaw. This will go from noon until 2:30.

The last stop for the day will be in Clio at the Clio Community of Christ located at 4041 W. Vienna Road. The food will be distributed here from 3 pm until 5:30 pm.

Those wishing to receive food should bring a bag or box to carry the food in. Additionally ID will be required. SNAP outreach will also be available at each site.

If you are interested in volunteering you can contact the United Way at 810-762-5836.
