Tornado warning issued in southern Saginaw County

These strong storms are moving northeast at about 30mph.


The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning in southern Saginaw County until 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The NWS says the storm should be in Garfield around 6:10 p.m.; near the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge around 6:25 p.m.; Fosters around 6:35 p.m. and Bridgeport around 6:45 p.m.

Residents are advised to take cover. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are in a vehicle or outdoors, move to the closest substantial shelter.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for strong storms expected to impact Shiawassee, Bay, Saginaw, and Midland counties.

The statement is valid until 5:45pm.

A line of strong storms stretching from just southwest of Saginaw to the Lansing area is moving NE at 30mph and could contain pea size hail, brief heavy downpours, and wind gusts up to 40mph.
