Trooper shot in Saginaw

Police respond to Davenport in Saginaw.

A Michigan State Police trooper and a male suspect were shot Thursday night.

Michigan State Police say Saginaw Police responded to a domestic dispute Thursday night in the 800 block of Stark Street where shots were fired.

The suspect then fled on foot.

That's when Michigan State Police responded and spotted the suspect who ran into an abandoned house.

"Troopers responded to the scene, observed the suspect on Davenport enter an abandoned home. An exchange of gunfire where trooper was shot and suspect was shot," said Lt. Brian Cole, Michigan State Police.

Lt. Cole says the trooper is in good condition.

The troopers injuries are unknown.

State Police did not confirm the identity or condition of the male suspect.

No other injuries are reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
