Two-car crash traps driver inside

A head-on crash near the 5000 block of Dixie Highway halted traffic on Monday night as firefighters needed to cut the roof and doors from one of the vehicles in an attempt to free the driver.

The incident occurred just after 7 p.m. and crews responded to the scene to find a head-on collision between a minivan traveling southbound and an unknown black car that was heading northbound.

As of 8 p.m., firefighters were still on the scene working to free the driver of the black vehicle.

A male driver of the minivan was transported from the scene by ambulance.

According to MLive, all lanes of traffic were open as of 9:35 p.m.

Both drivers were taken to nearby hospitals and are believed to be in serious condition, according to a fire official at the scene.
