Two charged with disorderly conduct in CMU couch-burning party

Two people were arrested for disorderly conduct early Sunday morning, when hundreds of Central Michigan University students were caught burning couches during a party.

Mt. Pleasant police tell NBC25 that officers were called to Franklin and Gaylord streets just north of campus around 1 a.m. Sunday. About 200 to 300 CMU students were gathered around a large fire, burning couches and other furniture. Some officers had bottles thrown at them. Two people were taken to jail for disorderly conduct. Police issued citations to several other students.

Authorities say there were no reports or injuries.
